Welcome to Arboretum Obstetrics and Gynecology. We are a South Charlotte Obstetrics and Gynecology practice founded under the premise that all women should receive medical treatment from a physician who they feel they can relate to and speak with freely. We have served the women of the Charlotte community since January of 1999 when our founding partner, Dr. Sophia Paige, left the Nalle Clinic and started our practice. After practicing as a solo practitioner for four years, Dr. Mala Freeman-Kwaku joined Dr. Paige as our second physician in August of 2002. Dr. Paige and Dr. Freeman have infused their bi-coastal training (Dr. Paige trained at UCLA and Dr. Freeman at Georgetown) to create a blossoming ob/gyn practice with physicians who are open-minded and yet experienced in restoring health and bringing forth life. Our practice has been delighted to add our newest physician, Dr. Octavia Cannon in the Fall of 2005. Dr. Cannon joins are practice with six years of ob/gyn experience having served as the Director of Women’s Health for the Gaston County Health Department. Our all-female, all board-certified panel of physicians believe in building a partnership with our patients based on trust, respect, and compassion.

In addition to our physicians, we have an all female support staff of experienced and well-trained nurses and billing personnel. All of our support staff have received extensive training of our Arboretum Obstetrics & Gynecology protocols as well as on-going training to solidify their certifications. Our staff thrives on offering top notch customer service and working diligently to be informative, polite, courteous, and efficient. We have two South Charlotte practices. We are proud to announce that our primary practice has moved to a new 4000 square foot facility at the Arboretum at Belle Grove. In addition, our satellite office is conveniently located on the third floor of Presbyterian Hospital-Matthews. We utilize Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews for our obstetrical care as well as for our surgical interventions.

Our practice accepts all commercial health care plans, all government employee insurance and a few government issued health plans. Our billing personnel will gladly verify your healthcare benefits to insure that you are able to utilize your insurance plan to the fullest extent available.
